Dr. Yoav Oestreicher is a partner in the firm's Litigation Group. Yoav has substantial experience in intellectual property litigation, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, designs, plant breeders' rights and trade secrets, and commercial litigation. Yoav has represented Israeli and international clients in intellectual property infringement cases in various courts and jurisdictions in Israel and the United States, as well as in opposition and cancellation proceedings at the Israeli Patent and Trademark Office. Yoav has handled cases in various industries, including pharmaceuticals, bio-technology, communications, engineering, internet and the protection of brands and goodwill. Yoav has also counseled clients on various issues, including privacy and data protection.

Prior to joining Meitar in 2010, Yoav was a partner at Gilat Bareket & Co. and prior to that was associated with the law firm of Pryor Cashman Sherman & Flynn LLP in New York and Robinson Bradshaw & Hinson P.A. of Charlotte, North Carolina.

In addition to his position with the firm, Yoav serves as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Bar-Ilan and Haifa Universities, where he teaches courses in intellectual property, antitrust and international business transactions. Yoav was also invited to present lectures to active judges at the Institute of Advanced Judicial Studies at the Supreme Court of Israel, as well as other forums.

Yoav is a member of the Intellectual Property Legislation Committee of the Israel Bar and was asked to represent its interests at various hearings at the Israeli Parliament (Knesset).

Yoav is a member of INTA, AIPPI, LES, ALAI, American Bar Association, New York State Bar Association and North Carolina Bar Association.

Representative cases in which Yoav was involved:

• Representation of Bezeq International Ltd., 012 Smile Telecom. Ltd. and 013 Netvision Ltd. in defending a patent infringement action related to prepaid calling cards.
• Representation of the Ferrero Corporation in litigation against various infringers of its famous Ferrero Rocher® trademark.
• Representation of an international pharmaceutical company in an appeal related to securing a patent term extension for a leading drug.
• Representation of an armor manufacturer  in several patent opposition proceedings.
• Representation of the Government of Georgia in rare opposition proceedings relating to the registration of the two appellations of origin "KHVANCHKARA" and "KINDZMARAULI" under the Lisbon Convention.
• Representation of a major U.S. television network in a dispute relating to copyright infringement and deep linking on the Internet.
• Representation of an Israeli company in litigation regarding design infringement of its famous line of products.
• Representation of a leading U.S. company in enforcing its plant breeders' rights in Israel against local growers, nurseries and marketers.
• Representation of a leading food manufacturer in trade secrets and unjust enrichment litigation.
• Representation of seven defendants in a legal action brought against them in the District Court for alleged conversion of trade secrets.
